The Speaking of Food and Healthy Living Award is an annual national program that was created in 1998.  The Award is designed to encourage and recognize collaborative efforts that help Canadians practice healthy eating and active living. 

Award recipients are selected by a panel of leaders from the dietetic profession, active living, food industry, media, academia and government.  The competition is open to individuals, groups, media, dietitians, health professionals, government, non-profit organizations, retailers, commodity groups and food and food service industries.

Six Regional winners each receive recognition and a Certificate of Merit.   One national award winner receives an Award of Excellence and a $2,500 cash prize.  All recipients are recognized at an awards ceremony at the annual Dietitians of Canada Conference.   Travel and accommodation expenses are provided for all award recipients.
