Stacked Jack
Choose three pumpkins (or pumpkin/melon combination) — one smaller round one for the head, one long and skinny or oval-shaped for the middle, and one large round one for the base.
Purchase a long steel/iron garden post or shepherd's hook (a sturdy broom handle would also work) at your local garden store. You will use this to skewer the back of the pumpkins together, like a kabob, in order to hold it together.
Collect twigs for the "arms" and leaves for the "clothes".
Hollow out and carve a face in the pumpkin that will be your "head".
Stack the pumpkins on top of each other and skewer the back of the pumpkins with the steel rod or pole. If you can, it is a good idea to push the end of the rod right into the ground through your grass. This prevents people from being able to topple it over.
Decorate with the leaves and twigs as shown in the photo.
If you like, you can light the "head" of the pumpkin person with a candle to add excitement for Halloween.
