Baking powder is a dry chemical leavening agent used to increase the volume and lighten the texture of baked goods such as muffins, cakes, scones and tea biscuits.
Magic Baking Powder is a continuous action baking powder, as such, its rising action begins when liquid is added to the dry ingredients and continues until the cell structure of a batter or dough is stabilized by heat.
People often prefer baking powder to yeast because yeast takes so long -- usually two to three hours - to produce its bubbles. Baking powder is instant, so you can mix up a batch of biscuits in just 15 minutes.
For best results, we recommend that Magic Baking Powder be used within 1 year of opening the package. Be sure to reseal the container after each use and store it in a cool place. To test if Magic Baking Powder still packs a punch, combine 1 teaspoon baking powder with 1/3 cup hot water. If it bubbles enthusiastically, it’s fine!
