    During Game Nutrition

For activity that lasts longer than an hour, you will require both fluids and energy in the form of carbohydrates. Active muscles and your brain will require fluids and carbohydrates to:
    • provide energy and prevent low blood sugar or hitting the wall
    • regulate body temperature
    • prevent headaches
    • replace sweat loss and
    • prevent muscle cramping.

Sports drinks work well here as they are specifically formulated to provide fluids, sugar and electrolytes in a specific amount that enables easy transit from the gut into working muscles. This is why it is important not to dilute sports drinks.

The amount you will need is about 1/2 cup for every 15 minutes of activity. 1/2 cup is equal to roughly 4 large gulps out of your water bottle.
