The Frugal Family’s Breakfast

Ingredients:
  • Rolled oats
  • Boiling water
  • Chopped fruit on sale or in season (e.g. apples and/or pears and/or bananas)
  • Brown sugar to taste
Preparation
Boil some water in a pot.

Added rolled oats to desired consistency. The mixture will thicken as the oats are boiled, so be careful that you don’t add too many rolled oats. Stir the mixture while it boils to make sure that it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pot. After it has boiled, lower the flame and let the mixture thicken.

Add and stir in chopped fruit and brown sugar to taste. Pour the mixture into bowls and it is ready to serve.
Notes
Can pour some cow’s milk or flavoured Soy milk over the mixture in the bowels.

Variations include topping the bowels with Chocolate Chips, M&M’s and/or a scoop of ice-cream and/or flavoured yogourt.
