The idea to cut a shape out of a sandwich is great! It makes the sandwich easier to eat because it is made up of small pieces and the lunch box comes home empty with no crusts! I make my star sandwiches with bologna and mustard because that's what my son likes, but the cream cheese and jam sounds like a great (nut-free) substitution for days when I'm out of luncheon meat.
