Polynesian-Glazed Meatballs

What You Need

1 tsp. oil

1 large red pepper, chopped

1 onion, chopped

1/4 cup Kraft Original BBQ Sauce

1 tsp. ground ginger

1 tsp. garlic powder

1 can (14 fl oz/398 mL) pineapple chunks in juice, drained, liquid reserved

340 g (1/2 of 680-g pkg.) frozen cooked meatballs

1-1/2 cups instant white rice, uncooked

Make It

HEAT oil in large skillet on medium-high heat. Add peppers and onions; cook 5 min. or until crisp-tender, stirring frequently.

STIR in barbecue sauce, ginger, garlic powder and pineapple juice. Add meatballs; stir until evenly coated. Cook 10 min. or until meatballs are heated through, stirring occasionally. Meanwhile, cook rice as directed on package.

ADD pineapple to meatball mixture; mix well. Serve over rice.

For a burst of flavour, stir 1/2 tsp. orange zest into water in saucepan before using to cook the rice.

I would make this recipe again, however I would need to make more sauce for the rice, or change to noodles. It needs spice! It was too bland.

I used sweet & sour sauce instead of the bbq and it was great. Very easy to make, my husband loved it.

I organize a get-together once a year with all of our neighbours. It is always pot luck and this I volunteered to take the meat. I NEVER make a recipe for the first time when I have company (let alone feed a crowd!) but I took a chance on making these and they were a HUGE hit! So easy, so delicious and clean up was a snap - what could be better then that!
