What You Need

3 oz. Baker's Semi-Sweet Chocolate

6 Tbsp. butter or margarine

3/4 cup sugar

2 eggs

1 tsp. vanilla

1-1/4 cups flour, divided

1/2 tsp. baking soda

3/4 cup water

Seasonal fresh fruit (optional)

Make It

PREHEAT oven to 350°F. Microwave chocolate and butter in large microwaveable bowl on MEDIUM 2 minutes or until butter is melted. Stir until chocolate is completely melted.

ADD sugar; beat with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Blend in vanilla. Add 1/4 cup of the flour and the baking soda; beat until well blended. Add remaining 1 cup flour alternately with water, beating well after each addition. Pour evenly into greased and floured 9-inch round cake pan.

BAKE 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in centre comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pan. Cool completely on wire rack. Garnish with Chocolate Glaze (see Tip below) and seasonal fresh fruit just before serving, if desired.

How to Make Chocolate Glaze

Microwave 3 oz. Baker's Semi-Sweet Chocolate, 2 Tbsp. whipping cream and 1 Tbsp. butter in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 1 to 2 minutes or until butter is melted. Stir until chocolate is completely melted and mixture is well blended.

Easy, not too sweet, the only thing i suggest different is add the berries on the whole top layer off the cake, as it gives it a nice sweetness!

Good cake. Definitely didn't rise out of the cake pan so it was a very small cake.

Simple, moist, delicious... I always keep a box of semi-sweet chocolate on hand for this super easy to make chocolate cake !! I tried it with white chocolate squares, was good but not as fluffy.
