What You Need

4-1/2 cups penne pasta, uncooked

1 lb. (450 g) lean ground beef

2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms

1 onion, chopped

1 jar (645 mL) pasta sauce

3 Tbsp. fully cooked bacon pieces

1 tsp. Italian seasoning

1-1/3 cups Kraft Mozza-Cheddar Shredded Cheese

Make It

HEAT oven 375°F.

COOK pasta as directed on package, omitting salt.

MEANWHILE, brown ground beef with vegetables in large skillet sprayed with cooking spray. Add pasta sauce, bacon and seasoning; mix well. Simmer on medium-low heat 10 min. or until slightly thickened, stirring occasionally.

DRAIN pasta. Add to sauce; mix well. Pour into 13x9-inch baking dish sprayed with cooking spray. Top with cheese.

BAKE 25 to 30 min. or until heated through.

Note

Oops, made too much pasta? Not a problem. Freeze any leftover pasta in a Ziploc® brand Freezer Bag with the Smart Zip® Seal to have on hand for another use.

Make Ahead

Casserole can be assembled ahead of time. Refrigerate up to 24 hours. When ready to serve, bake, uncovered, as directed.

Note

Cool, then refrigerate any leftovers. Reheat and serve as part of your lunch the next day.

Delicious pasta bake! I used only 3 cups of uncooked penne pasta and also added a little extra cheese to the meat sauce. A very hearty meal for a cold, winter's night. Even hubby, who rarely eats pasta, gave compliments to the chef!

Tasted even better the second day for leftovers. Yes, you definitely have to decrease the pasta and increase the seasoning and pasta sauce. I also mixed some of the cheese with the pasta and put the rest on top.

I increased sauce and seasoning left out mushrooms mixed half cheese into meat and pasta mix and put rest on top.We really like this dish it is fast and easy to make.

I substituted gluten free rice pasta, (cut back to 3 cups uncooked),added 1 tsp. minced garlic, all else as printed here. Awesome taste treat I would recommend to anyone.

It was pretty good. Too much pasta though. Next time I make it, I'll probably only do 3 cups. The pasta-meat ratio was off.

It made a lot!I am fairly new to cooking and it was so easy to make and easy to add additional items to without ruining the recipe. Would definitely make it again, it was very filling, great for leftovers too!

Very easy. It makes a lot though, so you may want to cut back on the noodles. I may my own bacon bits...very tasty.

This recipe has an amazing flavor! The bacon bits & fresh mushrooms make the difference. Of course I added a few more spices lie rosemary, Italian seasoning, seasoning powder and of course garlic. I agree wtih the rest though, three cups of penne would be plenty to feed four. Two thumbs up!!
