MIX 2 cups of softened butter with 1 cup fine sugar* then stir in 4 cups flour.
ROLL, shape or cut cookie dough and place on an ungreased parchment or foil-lined cookie sheet. Bake at 350°F (180°C) for 10-14 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on cookie sheet for 5 minutes. Remove cookies and cool on wire racks.
