MIX 2 cups of softened butter with 1 cup brown sugar then stir in 4 cups flour.
STIR in a few handfuls of toasted coarsley chopped pecans.
DROP cookie dough by rounded teaspoon onto an ungreased parchment or foil-lined cookie sheet. Bake at 350°F (180°C) for 10-14 minutes or until lightly browned. Top each cookie with a pecan half and cool on cookie sheet for 5 minutes. Remove cookies and cool on wire racks.
