what you need

3 pkg. (300 g each ) frozen pound cake, thawed
1 tub (1 L) Cool Whip Whipped Topping, thawed
4 to 6 drops of red or yellow food colouring
6 mini sugar cake donuts
20 pretzel sticks
10 pieces black string licorice
1/2 cup assorted jelly or hard candies

make it

TRIM rounded tops off pound cakes. Place one of the cakes on cake board or tray. Top with second cake, using a small amount of whipped topping in between the layers to secure layers. (This is the back of the "fire truck.")

CUT 1/3 off the end of the remaining pound cake. Lay the larger portion of the cake in front of and level with the bottom of the stacked pound cakes. Place the smaller portion vertically on top of the larger portion to form an L-shape against the 2 stacked cakes. (This will form the "cab" of the truck and be slightly higher than the 2 stacked pound cakes. See photograph.)

TINT whipped topping with red or yellow food colouring until desired colour is achieved. Spread over entire fire truck. Attach 3 donuts on each side of the truck for "wheels;" add candy to centre of each donut for "hubcap." Use pretzel sticks to create "ladders" on back and sides of truck.

LAY licorice on the top of the truck to make a "water hose." Outline windows, doors and hood of truck with remaining licorice. Add assorted candies to top of cab and on front of cake for the "top lights" and "headlights." Store in refrigerator.
