What You Need

24 Nilla Vanilla Wafers, divided

1 pkg. (4-serving size) Jell-O Banana Instant Pudding

2 cups cold milk

3/4 cup thawed Cool Whip Whipped Topping

1 banana, cut into 20 slices

Make It

CRUSH 20 wafers to form coarse crumbs; set aside. Beat pudding mix and milk in medium bowl with whisk 2 min. Stir in Cool Whip.

SPOON half the wafer crumbs evenly into 4 dessert dishes; cover with 8 banana slices and half the pudding mixture. Repeat layers. Refrigerate 15 min. Meanwhile, wrap remaining banana slices tightly in plastic wrap; refrigerate until ready to use.

TOP each parfait with 1 each of the reserved wafers and banana slices just before serving.

Substitute

Prepare using Jell-O Vanilla Instant Pudding.

How to Prevent The Banana Slices From Turning Brown

To prevent the sliced bananas from turning brown, just toss them with lemon juice. Or, dip into 1 L of cold water mixed with 3 Tbsp. lemon juice. Pat the slices dry with paper towels before using.

Make Ahead

Parfaits can be refrigerated up to 4 hours before garnishing with remaining wafers and banana slices before serving.

My granny used to make this in the 1950's. When one had to make the Jello Vanilla pudding from "scratch" on the stove top. I used to think that the lumps in the pudding were the little round decorations that we saw on the illustration on the front of the box. She didn't bother with whipped topping (it hadn't been invented yet). It is a Poor man's trifle. It is a great dessert made in a punch bowl for pot luck dinners.

The presentation of this recipe turned out beautifully and was very impressive. The flavours worked well together however i found that the Nilla wafers got a bit soft and weren't as crunchy as I expected them to be. I would try this next time with vanilla pudding and oreo cookie crumbs for a diffent flavour.

I love bananas and this recipe looks so good the only thing about is it possible to make it ORGANIC and how I am eating all organic food and I feel great I do eat dessert but all ORGANIC products Thank you Andam

it's fast and easy to make at the last minute, the kids love it. Make sure if you are making ahead of time to check on how to make the bananas not turn brown. These parfaits are yummy if you like bananas. Sprinkle some of the crumbs on top of cream.
