SLICE a 9-in (23 cm) round loaf into 1 in. (2.5 cm) slices, cutting almost, but not completely through bread. Turn loaf 90 degrees and repeat, creating "fingers".
SPREAD process cheese between slices of bread (one direction only). Sprinkle top with chives.
WRAP loaf in heavy-duty aluminum foil and bake at 350°F (180°C) for 15 minutes or until cheese melts.
SERVE unwrapped and pull fingers starting at edge of loaf, working towards the centre.
