Substitute
Substitute 3 fresh beets (1/2 lb./225 g), peeled, cooked and sliced, for the sliced canned beets.
How to Cook Beets
Cut off beet tops, leaving 1 inch of the stem on each beet. Wash beets thoroughly. Carefully add to large saucepan of boiling water; cover and simmer 30 to 40 min. or until tender. Cool slightly. Wearing disposable gloves, peel warm beets under cool running water.
