what you need

4 cups sliced strawberries
1/4 cup sugar
2-1/3 cups baking mix
1/2 cup milk
3 Tbsp. sugar
3 Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
1-1/2 cups thawed Cool Whip Whipped Topping

PREHEAT oven to 425°F. Toss strawberries with 1/4 cup sugar; set aside.

PLACE baking mix, milk, 3 Tbsp. sugar and the butter in large bowl; stir until mixture forms a soft dough. Spoon into 8 mounds, 2 inches apart, on ungreased baking sheet.

BAKE 10 to 12 min. or until golden brown. Remove to wire racks; cool completely. Cut shortcakes crosswise in half; place bottom half of each biscuit on dessert plate. Top evenly with the strawberry mixture; cover with tops of biscuits. Top each with 3 Tbsp. of the whipped topping.

These easy-to-make shortcakes make a great dessert for a summer dinner party.
Jazz It Up
For a more decadent dessert, add 6 squares chopped Baker's Semi-Sweet Chocolate to the shortcake dough before baking. Assemble desserts as directed, then drizzle with your favourite chocolate sauce just before serving.
