Grilled cheese tastes better, when bread is spread with butter instead of margarine,it doesn't burn.

A grilled cheese should not be messed with. Maybe add bacon but to change anything is a shame. Add a bowl or mug of Tomato soup and sheer heaven. ellen

Substituting mayo for the butter on a grilled cheese sandwich results in a crispy grilled cheese that's tangy and not too greasy.

I LOVE grilled cheese, but they can be boring. I add a slice of tomato to add a little more flavor

The thought of eating white bread with only a slice of cheese, is quite a sick thought. Whole wheat bread, or multi-grain is the way to go, and try different cheeses, adding some tomatoes or spinach. Sites like these should be supporting whole grains and healthy living, not old white bread that has no nutrients or flavour. Luckily there is the healthy living section, yet not enough recipes in it.

This is my favorite sandwich. I had this with tomato soup, a glass of milk and a small garden salad. It was a satisfying meal. thank you for the recipe.

For the adult crowd try adding a bit of dijon/grainy/bold mustard on the inside to give it an extra zip. I have tried this with many guests and they love it.

It's tasty as all grilled cheese sandwiches are, but not sure why it's called "ultimate". Basically it's only bread and cheese, nothing too different.

I tried the 3 grilled cheese sandwiches in the magazine. I loved them all especially the 1 with bacon in it. I also used the Miracle Whip instead of butter it was very good. Helen

A plain grilled cheese is a boring grilled cheese. If you are going to go all out, forget the light slices; they taste like cardboard. A good sandwich is only as good as your imagination. Add whatever you have on hand and enjoy!

I have used this recipe very often and really enjoy it immensely. I always add either a few slices of onion or a slice of cooked ham and I find this makes a delicious meal at lunchimte.

Adds more flavour than plain margarine. I've also made this with a thim slice of vidalia onion and tomato along with a sprinkle of garlic powder - not just your everyday grilled cheese!
