Serve hot and tasty Dal Ki Biryani at your next dawaat… The aroma of this zabardast recipe is heavenly!

What You Need!

5 cups water, divided
1 cup brown lentils, uncooked
1 cup basmati rice, uncooked
1/4 cup Miracle Whip Dressing
1 tsp. garam masala               
1 tsp. ground cumin
1 tsp. ground coriander
1 tsp. dried fenugreek leaves
1/2 tsp. red chili powder or cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp. ground turmeric
2 plum tomatoes, finely chopped
1 Tbsp. oil
1 onion, finely chopped
1 Tbsp. minced gingerroot
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1/2 tsp. cumin seed

Make It!

BRING 4 cups water to boil in large saucepan. Meanwhile, combine lentils and rice in medium bowl. Add enough cold water to cover. Let stand 10 min.; drain.
ADD lentil mixture to boiling water; return to boil. Simmer on medium heat 10 to 12 min. or just until lentils and rice are tender; drain.
MIX dressing, seasonings and remaining water. Stir in tomatoes; set aside.
HEAT oil in large skillet on medium-high heat. Add next 4 ingredients; cook and stir 4 min. or until onions are crisp-tender. Stir in dressing mixture and lentil mixture; cover. Simmer on medium-low heat 30 min. or until liquid is absorbed. Remove from heat. Let stand 10 min. Fluff with fork.

Serving Suggestion:

Serve with mangos or lime pickles.
