  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix the margarine and 1/2 cup of the evaporated milk with the cake mix. Spread 3/4 of the cake mixture into a greased 9"x 13" pan. Bake for 15 minutes.
  • Meanwhile melt the caramels and 1/3 cup of evaporated milk together in a microwave safe bowl in the microwave in 1 minute intervals until melted. Mix well and until smooth.
  • Remove cake from oven after the 15 minutes are up and immediately pour the chocolate chips evenly over the cake. Pour the caramel mixture evenly over the layer of chocolate chips. In clumps, drop the remaining 1/4 of the cake mixture over the caramel layer. Return to the oven and bake for another 15-20 minutes longer. Remove from oven and allow to cool. Cut into squares and serve.


Another way to serve this recipe is warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!
