  • Prepare the green beans by washing and trimming the stems and tips. Steam the beans over boiling water, using a bamboo steamer, or silicon insert steamer in your saucepan, until beans are tender-crisp. Remove from heat, and immediately put beans into an ice-water bath (this stops the cooking and keeps a beautiful green colour).
  • Meanwhile, thinly slice the onion, and saute in a non-stick pan with the butter or oil. Remove from pan and set aside. In same pan, cook bacon until crispy. Drain fat.
  • Combine all ingredients in a heat-proof casserole; stir to combine. Put in an oven at 350°F to warm through for 15 min; lower heat and hold until ready to serve.
