  • Shred or thinly slice cabbage.
  • Combine all ingredients in a large heavy pot. Cover & bring to a boil, stir to incorporate the ingredients.
  • Then reduce heat to medium low or low and simmer for 1 to 2 hours stirring occasionally.

Notes

This side dish freezes well. I freeze in portion size containers and simply thaw and use when wanted. Please note that this is a sweet and soft side dish, no crunchy cabbage here.
