  • In a large saucepan place the octopus and cover with water; bring to boil for 30 minutes to tenderize. Drain and allow to cool.
  • Cut up the octopus in bite-size pieces - cut the tentacles individually then the head for easy handling. Place aside.
  • Heat oil in large sauce pan (medium heat) and add the octopus and potato. Stir. Add all the dry spices (except chili powder). Stir. Add the onions and ginger/garlic paste. Add tomatoes, stirring constantly. Add water and allow to simmer 15-20 minutes.
  • Add coconut milk, coriander leaves, chili powder, salt & pepper and allow to simmer 10-15 minutes or until a thick saucy consistency has been reached.

Notes

Serve with fluffy white basmati rice and cucumber salad (oil, vinegar, salt, pepper).
