  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Chop 8 oz. chocolate coarsely; set aside. Microwave remaining chocolate in large microwaveable bowl on MEDIUM 2 min., stirring after 1 min. Stir until chocolate is completely melted. Add next 5 ingredients; mix well. Stir in flour and baking powder. Add chopped chocolate and nuts; mix well.
  • Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough, 2 inches apart, onto baking sheets.
  • Bake 12 to 13 min. or until cookies are puffed and shiny. Cool on baking sheets 1 min.; remove to wire racks. Cool completely.

If omitting nuts, increase flour to 3/4 cup to prevent excessive spreading of cookies as they bake.

I have lots of delicious chocolate cookie recipes that do not require 16 squares of chocolate!! Absolutely ridiculous considering the cost of a box of chocolate squares and all you're getting is 30 cookies from this recipe????!!!!! I never use a recipe if it turns out to be too expensive for the ingredients. My only exception is Christmas baking and then the treats are enjoyed even more because that is the only time I'll bake certain cookies, candies etc.

I would not make this recipe again. The chocolate was over-powering.
