  • Heat oven to 350°F.
  • Combine flour and baking powder. Beat cream cheese, butter and sugar in large bowl with mixer until light and fluffy.
  • Mash enough of 1 banana to measure 1/3 cup. Add to cream cheese mixture along with the sour cream; mix well. Add eggs, 1 at a time, mixing well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture until well blended.
  • Pour into 13x9-inch pan sprayed with cooking spray.
  • Cut remaining bananas lengthwise in half, then crosswise into thirds; place, cut sides up, in single layer over batter in pan. Brush bananas with syrup.
  • Bake 50 to 55 min. or until toothpick inserted near centre comes out clean. Cool completely.

Special Extra

Stir 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts into cake batter before pouring into pan and baking as directed.
