  • Heat oven to 400ºF.
  • Bring water and barley to boil in medium saucepan on medium-high heat; cover. Simmer on medium-low heat 40 to 50 min. or until barley is tender and just small amount of water remains. Remove from heat. Let stand 5 min.
  • Meanwhile, pour crushed tomatoes into 13x9-inch baking dish. Cut peppers lengthwise in half; remove and discard ribs and seeds. Place peppers, cut sides up, in prepared baking dish.
  • Heat dressing in large skillet on medium-high heat. Add onions and garlic; cook and stir 2 to 3 min. or until softened. Add diced tomatoes, beans and seasonings; mix well. Cook 8 to 10 min. or until slightly thickened, stirring frequently. Stir in barley. Spoon into pepper halves.
  • Bake 40 min. or until peppers are crisp-tender and filling is heated through. Top with cheese.

Serving Suggestion

Serve with a green salad tossed with your favourite Kraft Dressing.


Substitute 2-1/2 cups pasta sauce for the canned crushed tomatoes.
