  • Pat meat dry with paper towels; sprinkle with half the pepper. Heat oil in Dutch oven on medium-high heat. Add meat; cook 5 to 7 min. or until evenly browned, stirring occasionally. Transfer meat to bowl with slotted spoon, reserving drippings in pan.
  • Add mushrooms, carrots, onions, rosemary and remaining pepper to drippings in pan; cook 8 to 10 min. or until vegetables are softened, stirring frequently. Add flour; cook and stir 1 min. Add wine; cook 2 min., stirring constantly to scrape browned bits from bottom of pan.
  • Stir in broth, barbecue sauce, tomato paste and garlic; bring to boil. Return meat to pan along with any meat juices from bowl. Add potatoes; stir. Simmer on medium-low heat 1 hour or until meat is tender and stew is slightly thickened, stirring occasionally.
  • Add peas and parsley; cook 5 min. or until heated through, stirring occasionally.

Substitute

Substitute additional beef broth for the wine.

Serving Suggestion

Serve with whole wheat baguette slices.
