  • Heat oven to 300ºF.
  • Heat oil in ovenproof Dutch oven on medium-high heat. Add lamb; cook 3 min. on each side or until shanks are evenly browned on both sides. Remove lamb from pan, reserving drippings in pan; set lamb aside.
  • Add onions and garlic to reserved drippings in pan; cook on medium-low heat 5 min. or until softened. Add flour; cook and stir 2 min. Stir in broth; bring to boil, stirring constantly. Add all remaining ingredients except barbecue sauce; mix well. Add lamb; cover.
  • Bake 1-1/2 hours, turning shanks after 1 hour.
  • Add barbecue sauce to ingredients in pan; mix well. Bake, uncovered, 30 min. or until lamb is very tender.
  • Remove lamb from pan, reserving liquid in pan; cover lamb to keep warm. Place pan on stove top; bring to boil on medium-high heat. Simmer 5 min. or until sauce is thickened, stirring occasionally. Remove and discard rosemary and bay leaf. Serve lamb topped with sauce.

Serving Suggestion

Serve with roasted root vegetables and creamy mashed potatoes.

Special Extra

Garnish with a few fresh sprigs of rosemary before serving.
