  • Just follow our simple steps

  • PREPARE one package of vanilla cake mix, according to package directions for cupcakes. Bake and cool.
  • CUT the top layer of each cupcake off, creating a circle and a bottom. Cut each circle in half, to make wings. Scoop a small hollow into bottom of cupcake.
  • PREPARE one package of Jell-O Vanilla Instant Pudding according to package directions. Fill the hollows in cupcake bottoms with a spoonful of prepared pudding.
  • ARRANGE wings at an angle in the pudding. Place circular candies in the middle, to resemble butterfly body.


Prepare cupcakes a few days in advance and keep in airtight plastic container. Fill and decorate when ready to serve.

    Instead of using the cake mix, that made the cupcakes light and airy, I would make a heartier muffin, and cut the top off. Because you cut the top part off, and place them like wings,,,the pieces eventually sag into the pudding, and/or they tend to break because they are fragile pieces. It was a fun recipe to make with my daughter for her birthday party, but there was a lot of 'oops don't do that, and oops, let's fix that'. Otherwise it was tasty & fun.
