Many pastry recipes call for cutting butter into a dry mixture. While this can be accomplished manually with a pastry blender or two knives, a food processor makes quick work of this task. Use cold butter cut into tablespoon-size pieces and combine with dry ingredients as instructed in the bowl of a food processor. Pulse the mixture until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
