For gift-giving, layer flour, dry pudding mix, baking soda, chocolate and crushed candy in jar; cover with lid. Add a bow along with the following preparation directions: "Beat 1 cup softened butter in large bowl with mixer until creamy. Add 2 eggs and 1 tsp. peppermint extract; mix well. Add contents of jar; beat until blended. Drop tablespoonfuls of dough, 2 inches apart, on parchment-covered baking sheets. Bake 8 to 10 min. or until edges of cookies are lightly browned. Cool on baking sheets 1 min. Remove to wire racks; cool completely."
Sprinkle 1 Tbsp. icing sugar evenly over cooled cookies just before serving.
You will need to crush about 7 small candy canes to get the 1/2 crushed candy needed to prepare this recipe.
