  • Heat oven to 400°F.
  • Mix cream cheese product, soup and water in medium bowl until blended. Stir in broccoli and cheddar; spoon into 2-1/2- to 3-L shallow rectangular or oval baking dish.
  • Roll out pastry on lightly floured surface to fit top of baking dish; place over filling in baking dish. Press pastry onto rim of dish to seal; brush lightly with egg. Cut slits in pastry to permit steam to escape.
  • Bake 30 min. or until filling is heated through, and pastry is puffed and golden brown.

Make Ahead

Casserole can be assembled in advance. Refrigerate up to 24 hours. When ready to serve, bake, uncovered, as directed, increasing baking time if needed until filling is heated through.

Prepare using Philadelphia Herb & Garlic Light Cream Cheese Product, reduced-fat condensed cream of mushroom soup and Kraft Double Cheddar Light Shredded Cheese.

Puff pastry is also available in frozen pre-rolled sheets. If you purchase the pastry in this form, thaw 1 sheet as directed on package. Roll to fit baking dish and continue as directed.

Enjoyed by all, will definitely make this again. I think it's very important to make sure the broccoli is "well" thawed and dried with a paper towel. I doubled up on the recipe but used the same size baking dish as called for. Was a big hit!!

I know I already reviewed this in 2009, and I've been making it several times a year since. Still amazing!! Gets devoured at every potluck, and people ask me to make it! So easy to whip together. I love buying the "President's Choice" brand of pre-rolled puff pastry in the frozen foods section to top this with to make it even easier. Sometimes I substitute egg whites on top of the pastry. Absolutely recommend this easy recipe to anyone.

Parboiled fresh broccolli (do not like the frozen) then baked. Next time will add some diced chicken breasts.
