Our Cupcake Clock is a fun way to celebrate daylight saving time and the coming of Spring! The luscious homemade cream cheese icing adds the perfect finishing touch to this easy-to-make dessert.

  • Heat oven to 350ºF.
  • Prepare cake batter and bake as directed on package for 24 cupcakes. Cool in pan 10 min. Remove to wire racks; cool completely.
  • Beat cream cheese and vanilla in large bowl with mixer until blended. Gradually add sugar, mixing well after each addition. Gently stir in Cool Whip until blended.
  • Reserve 1/3 cup icing for later use. Stir food colouring into remaining icing; spoon into decorating bag fitted with decorating tip. Use to pipe coloured icing onto cupcakes.
  • Spoon reserved white icing into decorating bag fitted with writing tip; use to pipe numbers 1 through 12 onto tops of 12 cupcakes, adding one number to each cupcake. Trace over centres of numbers with decorating gel.
  • Arrange numbered cupcakes on round platter to resemble clock as shown in photo. Use remaining white icing to pipe lines onto centre of plate to resemble hands on the clock; trace over centres of lines with remaining decorating gel.
  • Serve remaining (non-numbered) cupcakes on separate plate.


Prepare using your favourite flavour of cake mix, such as yellow or chocolate.
