  • Heat oven to 350ºF.
  • Combine flour, cream of tartar, pumpkin pie spice and baking soda. Beat butter and sugar in large bowl with mixer until light and fluffy. Blend in egg. Gradually add dry ingredients, mixing well after each addition.
  • Shape dough into ball, then flatten slightly into disc. Place between 2 sheets of waxed paper; roll out to 1/8-inch thickness. Use 2-inch Christmas tree cookie cutter to cut dough into 30 shapes, rerolling scraps as necessary.
  • Place, 2 inches apart, on baking sheets sprayed with cooking spray.
  • Bake 12 min. or until edges are lightly browned. Cool on baking sheets 2 min. Remove to wire racks; cool completely.
  • Mix frosting and food colouring until blended; spoon into pastry bag fitted with small star tip. Use to pipe frosting onto cookies, adding about 1 Tbsp. frosting to each cookie. Top with sprinkles.

Look for the Philadelphia Cream Cheese Whipped Frosting in the refrigerated aisle of your grocery store.

How to Easily Transfer the Dough Cutouts to the Baking Sheets

After rolling out the dough between the 2 sheets of waxed paper, remove the top sheet of waxed paper and cut the dough into tree shapes as directed. Do not remove cutouts from rolled-out dough. Use ends of waxed paper to transfer dough to baking sheet. Refrigerate 15 min. or until firm. Use spatula to transfer cutouts from waxed paper-covered baking sheet to separate baking sheet before baking as directed. Reroll dough scraps, then continue as directed.

Make Ahead

The cookies can be baked ahead of time. Store cooled, unfrosted cookies in airtight container at room temperature up to 3 days. Frost before serving.

These cookies are best when served right after frosting them. If you do have any leftovers, store them in a single layer in airtight container in refrigerator up to 24 hours. If storing longer than that, the cookies will lose their crisp texture.
