Peanut Butter S’more Hot Chocolate

Some of my best memories growing up were those spent at my family’s cottage surrounded by loved ones. As soon as the warm weather would hit, there was no other place I would rather be than splashing in the lake, making sand castles, and roasting marshmallows on an open fire.

Although I adored playing games and running around in the sun during the long days at the cottage, it was the evenings that I most looked forward to, knowing that a campfire and a hot chocolate were in my future. My grandmother would always be in charge of making the hot chocolate (hers was the best, after all) and my grandfather, dad, and uncles would work on creating a roaring fire. It was at the campfire, with hot chocolates in hand and marshmallows roasting that we shared stories, memories, and songs.

With summer in full swing, and fond memories of the cottage swimming in my thoughts, I wanted to create a new food hack that combined two of my favourite things at the cottage: hot chocolate and s’mores! While the thought of dipping s’mores in hot chocolate crossed my mind, the idea of soggy graham crackers inspired me to get a bit more creative. Why dip graham crackers in the mug, when I could line the mug with the crackers! By rimming a mug with graham cracker crumbs and popping in a freshly-roasted marshmallow, you have effectively created the ultimate cottage treat! To make things even more delectable, I added a generous scoop of peanut butter to the mix for that sweet and salty combo.

Because there’s nothing worse than a big cleanup after a bonfire, I like to keep all of my s’more supplies contained in one place. In order to keep my s’more supplies all together and easy to access, I layered all of my ingredients in a mason jar. Once the fire is roaring and you’re ready to get roasting, just pop open the jar, and you’ll have everything you need!

Get These

  • 4 cups skim milk
  • ½ cup Baker’s Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • ½ cup + 2 Tbsp. Kraft Smooth Peanut Butter, divided
  • ½ cup graham wafers, crushed
  • 4 Jet-Puffed Marshmallows

Do This

  1. Set a medium heavy-bottomed pot on a grill over a campfire. Add milk, chocolate chips, and peanut butter. Cook, stirring occasionally until chocolate and peanut butter have melted and are incorporated into milk.
  2. While hot chocolate is cooking, prepare the mugs. Spread ½ Tbsp. peanut butter along the rim of each mug. Dip the rims in crushed graham crackers to line.
  3. Divide hot chocolate between mugs.
  4. Roast marshmallows over fire until golden. Add a marshmallow to each mug and serve immediately.

DONE!
