Make sure cakes are completely cooled before frosting. A warm cake can cause the frosting to soften or melt.
Store cake trimmings in tightly covered container at room temperature. Cut into cubes, then layer with additional prepared frosting to make a quick-and-easy trifle.

Very nice cake. Worst part for me was getting cake out of pan in one piece. First one totally fell apart, but for the second cake I lined my pan with tin foil and sprayed with cooking spray, and it came out beautifully! Hubby loved the frosting!
I really liked this cake. The football shape was pretty easy to make and everyone loved the icing. It wasn't too sweet either. I did make the cake a little fancier myself so it looked more like a real football. My son loved it!!!!
We really enjoyed this cake. It was very easy to make and you don't have to be an artist to make it look like a football. I added instant pudding to the cake mix to make it a bit more moist. I really liked the Cool Whip icing. It was light and not too sweet.
