  • Cook onions and sugar in hot oil in large saucepan on medium heat 15 to 20 min. or until tender and golden brown, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in broth, water and wine; bring to boil. Simmer on low heat 20 min.
  • Place toast slices on baking sheet; top with cheese. Broil, 6 inches from heat source, 1 to 2 min. or until cheese is melted. Ladle soup into 5 bowls; top each with toast slice.
