If the cake is very soft and crumbly, apply a “crumb coating” to prevent cake crumbs from mixing with the frosting. Just spread a thin layer of frosting over the entire cake, then let stand 5 to 10 min. or until frosting is firm. Spread remaining frosting over cake.
Lining the baking pan with foil makes for easy cleanup and easy removal of the cake from the baking pan. When lining the pan, allow 3 inches of foil to extend over each side of pan to use as handles when removing the cake from the pan.
Make sure cake is completely cooled before frosting. A warm cake can cause the frosting to soften or melt.
Keep frosted cake refrigerated.
