This green bean salad would be the perfect addition to any summer barbecue. The flavourful ketchup-based vegetable topping is the perfect complement to the blanched fresh green beans.

  • Heat oil in large skillet sprayed with cooking spray on medium heat. Add peppers, onions, celery, basil and hot sauce; stir. Cook 5 min., stirring frequently. Remove from heat.
  • Add ketchup, vinegar and sugar; mix well. Cool.
  • Place beans on platter; top with ketchup mixture. Sprinkle with nuts.

How to Blanch the Green Beans

Add beans to saucepan of boiling water; cook 2 to 3 min. or just until crisp-tender. Drain, then immediately plunge beans into bowl of cold water to stop the cooking process.


For a nut-free version, substitute Kraft 100% Parmesan Grated Cheese for the almonds.

Special Extra

For added colour, substitute fresh yellow beans for half of the green beans.
