  • Cut pineapple into 8 lengthwise spears; place in shallow dish. Mix 3 Tbsp. tea and lemon juice. Pour over pineapple; toss to coat. Let stand 15 min. to marinate.
  • Meanwhile, remove pieces of ginger from remaining tea. Coarsely chop ginger; set aside. Whisk cream cheese product in medium bowl until creamy. Stir in remaining tea; top with chopped ginger.
  • Heat barbecue to medium heat. Remove pineapple from marinade; discard marinade. Grill pineapple 2 to 3 min. on each side or until evenly caramelized. Serve warm with cream cheese mixture.

Note

Pineapple lends itself very well to grilling on the barbecue. When grilled, the sugars in the fruit caramelize, adding golden brown colour and wonderfully sweet flavour to the grilled fruit.

Look for ginger tea in the beverage section of larger Asian food stores. Available in a concentrate form with a consistency similar to that of jam, it is typically used as a base for making hot tea. But it's concentrated tea flavour also makes it an ideal ingredient for recipe use.
