  • Heat oven to 375ºF.
  • Place first 5 ingredients in large bowl. Add half each of the cheese and barbecue sauce; mix well. Press half onto bottom of 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  • Cover with half the ham, remaining cheese and remaining ham; top with remaining ground beef mixture. Shape into loaf.
  • Bake 1 hour 5 min. or until done (160ºF), brushing with remaining barbecue sauce after 50 min. Let stand 5 min. before slicing.

Serving Suggestion

Serve with hot mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables.

Keeping it Safe

Use an instant-read thermometer, inserted into centre of finished loaf, for accurate testing of the meatloaf doneness.

    I have made this recipe several times and it always gets rave reviews. I ask the deli for a little thicker than sandwich slices of Black Forest Ham and use slices of Jalapeno Jack instead of shredded. A great winter dish!

    This recipe did not cook properly. The ham made it so the meat around the ham was raw, and the rest was cooked. Even leaving it in the oven for two extra hours at a lower temperature did not cook the meat around the ham.

    Simple and quick. I will make again. Will increase the amount of cheese. I will also sprinkle cheese on top in the last few minutes of baking.
