  • Heat oven to 375°F.
  • Combine first 6 ingredients. Beat margarine and sugars in large bowl with mixer until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; mix well. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Add dates; mix well.
  • Drop heaping tablespoonfuls of dough, 2 inches apart, onto parchment-covered baking sheets.
  • Bake 10 min. or until lightly browned. Cool 1 min. Remove to wire racks; cool completely.

Substitute

Substitute 3/4 cup raisins for the chopped dates.

Special Extra

Add 1/2 cup chopped walnuts to prepared cookie dough along with the dates.
