would make again but omit the raisins, just a tad too sweet for our taste...
I've made this type of salad before and used craisins instead of raisins since I'm not a fan of them. Also I did not put sunflower seeds before but I think next time I make this I will try it. I like the advice from Betty692 about just using the coleslaw dressing instead of the miracle whip/sugar/vinegar mix, sounds so much easier and fail-proof, thanks!
I use just Kraft Coleslaw dressing instead of the miracle whip, sugar and vinegar. It is perfect!!! Never to sweet or sour, always perfect, every time. And I add other ingredients such as dried cranberries instead of raisins and almonds instead of sunflower seeds. Wonderful recipe and so easy, guests love it every time.
I substituted balsamic vinegar for the white vinegar, it was great. Have made this a few times. Always tastes great
Perfect make ahead no work recipe that gets rave reviews. Substituted apple cider vinegar for the white vinegar and dried cranberries for the raisins.
Great salad. easy to make and very nutritious. Have made this many times. I would give a 10 out of 10
Been making this one for years. Couple of changes I use is Honey mixed with the Mayo instead of sugar. Also used Harvati cheese cube quite small.
If you're concerned over the amount of sugar you can cut it back to 1 1/2 tablespoons using the same amount of dressing or mayo and my recipe only requires 1 tablespoon of vinegar. I also use half the qty of red onion and i substitute a 340 g bag of broccoli slaw for the florets. Rest of ingredients are all the same.
This salad is also good with Poppy Seed dressing and grated cheddar cheese. I have never tried it with the raisins and the sunflower seeds, that would be a nice addition.
This salad is so good, will definitely make it again!!
I simply love this salad my family and I can't get enough of it! Who said broccoli was not good are just crazy. This is by far the best summer salad for a picnic or potluck.
made this salad several times with minor substitutions. Substituted grapes for raisins and pumpkin seeds for sunflower seeds
Toasted almonds instead of sunflower seeds and halved red seedless grapes instead of the raisins. Have made this salad for years...always a hit!! :)
Works great with red wine vinegar. I substitute Splenda for the sugar and it's great!
a friend of mine gave me this recipe years ago, however, in place of raisins & sunflower, we used grated cheddar cheese. It has been everybody's favourite since.
Yummy - always a favourite at a friend of ours, and now I can make it for us!
we have made this salad for years-we add grated cheese to our recipe.
Everyone loves this salad. You can't go wrong with this one!
I got compliments from everyone when I made this at a family function. It's so yummy.
i added dried cranberries as well
I loved it. I added grape tomatoe halves and replaced the sunflower for toasted sesame seeds and skipped the raisins. I also used green onions instead of red. Very versatile recipe!!
Oh Yummy. I now make this often. I even made it for Christmas Day. It is so good. I did cut back on the sugar though.
Very easy to make, but i found there was way too much sugar for my liking. I reduced it to 1 tbsp from the 1/2 cup in the recipe.
Wonderfully easy to make from the bag of Broccoli from Costco.
We loved this salad. I used blanched broccoli and since I didn't have any sunflower seeds, I substituted toasted pecans, which were delicious. This would be a great salad to bring to a pot luck and it complimented the barbecued ribs that we served with it.
