  • Bring meat, water and barbecue sauce to boil in Dutch oven or large deep skillet; cover. Simmer on medium-low heat 1 hour.
  • Add vegetables; stir. Cook, covered, 1 hour or until meat and vegetables are tender, stirring occasionally.

Special Extra

Sprinkle with chopped fresh thyme leaves just before serving.

Slow-Cooker Preparation

Place all ingredients except barbecue sauce in slow cooker; cover with lid. Cook on LOW 8 hours (or on HIGH 4 hours). Stir in barbecue sauce; cook 2 min.

    I used no sodium beef broth because it was in the fridge. I also added 4T of flour to thicken up the stew once it was cooked and for some extra colour, some green beans. The meat was tender and the veggies were cooked just right, not mushy.Yummy! Ter ;)

    This recipe is very easy to make and is delicious! The only thing left were a few veggies. My 6'5" son-in-law and my son inhaled it... returning for seconds. I will definitely make this recipe again but next time I will add turnip and a bit more water.
