To easily shred cooked chicken for recipes, place the slightly cooled cooked chicken on a cutting board. Use two forks or your fingers to pull the meat lengthwise into opposite directions, separating it into long shreds.
Some cooks prefer to drain the cooked pasta well to prevent excess water from diluting the sauce, while others like a little moisture to help prevent the cooked pasta from sticking together. In any case, reserve a small amount of the cooking water to add to the drained cooked pasta if it starts to stick together, or if you want to dilute the sauce. Lasagna noodles, shells or other pastas used for filling and baking can be rinsed under cold water to cool slightly for easier handling in preparing your recipe.
