Ratings & Reviews

I agree with a previous reviewer that this is a great base recipe. I added quite a bit...a can of mushrooms, oregano, salt, pepper, garlic powder. I wanted more of a lasagne casserole instead of a more traditional lasagne, so once it was done cooking I just stirred everything up (I broke the lasagne into bite sized pieces when I was layering). The only thing I found when doing it this way was that I needed more noodles. It really is a great recipe to build on. I will definitely be making this one again.

During the skillet-cooking step I added some diced garlic, shredded zucchini and carrots, and sliced mushrooms, and I used a slightly larger jar of pasta sauce than was called for (and a little less water, to balance the liquids). The end product was very tasty but there was one big disappointment: the noodles in the middle were so overcooked/oversoaked they were soggy. I'm not sure if this is something that can be corrected by using less water, for example, or substituting whole-wheat noodles (which perhaps don't get quite as soft as white noodles), but I may experiment with that because if the noodles hadn't been soggy, it would have been the perfect lasagna.

I have made this recipe a few times now. I found lean ground beef worked just as well and you can rinse it to remove more fat after cooking. We added oregano, basil and garlic. We also used a pasta sauce that had some flavour in it. The shredded cheese we prefer is old cheddar and mozzarella. The first time we made it, consistency was great, we just needed more flavour. It's a great base recipe to build from and cooked beautifully. We only did it in our small crock pot to get the nice layers, but used 5 noodles instead of 6! We now make lasagna more often than we used to!

Excellent! A big hit - we had it 3 nights in a row (2 of us) and my husband thought it got better every time. Will be a favorite. Only disadvantage is short cooking time - can't put on before going to work, but worked well before going to ski.

It was delicious, but I think I will add vegetables such as mushrooms, spinach, zucchini to balance meal. I cooked it for 4 hours on low. I added thawed frozen spinach to cottage cheese layer (didn't have ricotta).

Easy considering the results!

Yummy!!! I love lasagna and this is the best I've ever had! So simple to make and fed everyone in my family and then some. I used cottage cheese instead of ricotta only because I have to have cottage cheese in lasagna. Highly recommended!!!!

I used the oven ready noodles and this lasagne turned out perfectly! was so easy too! huge hit with my family, will do this over oven version anytime!

I really didn't have high hopes for this recipe, but I was wrong. The noodles cooked just right, the cheese was ooey gooey perfect, and it even got a little crusty around the edges. My non-lasagne loving spouse even said that they would eat it again. WIN!!

The person below, has a very good question, do you use the oven ready lasagne noodles or the ones you are suppose to boil, but dont boil them for this recipe? Thanks to anyone out there that can comfirm. Looking forward to making this for my family. <<< Response from Kraft Kitchens Expert, Lori ~ This recipe uses regular lasagna noodles that are not cooked before being placed in the slow cooker, not the oven-ready lasagna noodles. >>>

This was amazing! So easy to make and tasted delicious. The recipe is a great base to add whatever you like; we added chopped pepper, onion, sweetcorn and garlic. Will be making this regularly for sure! :)

I have made this twice with huge success. Here is an answer to the question about the noodles - you use the regular ones, uncooked. This is what the extra cup of water is for, to cook the noodles IN the cooker. Think about it - if you put oven ready (which are for ovens, not crockpots) or pre-cooked noodles in a slowcooker, they'd cook to mush, right? So don't get the oven ready, just trust what the recipe says and go with your experience with your own appliance for cooking times. The most important part here is the liquid, the cheeses and seasonings are to your own preference. I did this as directed with awesome results!

regarding the lasagna pasta in this recipe, which one is recommended, the one that doesn't require pre cooking or the one that require pre-cooking?

The recipe is pretty bland. The next time we make it we're going to try with a layer of vegetables near the top - mushrooms, onions, and peppers - and more seasonings and hope that does the trick.

This is an awesome recipe. It is actually requested by my co-workers whenever we have a pot luck.

I found this recipe too cheesy. It was very overpowering.

I would use less ricotta next time. Mine wasn't in nice layers but it did taste good.

EXCELLENT - and so easy!! Every busy Mom should make this for those cold, wet nights when you are tired and need something yummy and quick. Really good for leftovers too!!

quick and easy

My first ever Lasagne! Absolutely amazing!! Definitely making this again!

Yummy and very easy

Just one of the best. When I make it for guests I always get asked for the recipe.

The instructions on this recipe are not clear. I've now wasted all the ingredients thinking I was supposed to mix the ricotta in with the meat sauce. The steps should be clearly separated. Someone at Kraft needs to rewrite this recipe.

This was so easy to make and turned out delicious. Next time I will ad some chili powder just to spice it up a bit however it's great just the way it is!

So EASY and So good. Perfect on "quick turn around nights" aka in the door from work/school out the door for soccer/hockey practice.

This recipe was awesome! It was so easy to make and my son loved it. He had 2 big helpings!

This recipe was very plain and boring tasting, it even ended up burning after only a couple hours on low! Ive never had anything else burn in my slow cooker, not sure what went wrong.

My family loves this recipe. Easy to make and delicious. It has become a staple in our busy house!

For the vegetarians out there ... I substituted the beef for mushrooms, onions, and peppers and then continued with the recipe, adding the sauce once the veggies were tender. After adding the first cheese layer, I added a layer of spinach, and after the second cheese layer, I added a layer of sliced zucchini. I used the amount of water called for in the recipe and let it cook for 6 hours on low in the slow-cooker. It turned out great. I would add more spices/seasonings to my sauce next time, but that is personal preference.

The best lasagna EVER!!! I give this recipe to all my friends and love making it myself. Super easy and so tasty!!

I would have to say that this is a very awesome recipe. My daughter loves lasagne and so does my hubby. I thought that the slow cooker may end up drying it out but everything was mosit and tasted wonderful. I added mushrooms and fresh tomatoes. I love using the slow cooker. Please give more recipe ideas for the slow cooker, KRAFT...

What a great idea! Thanks Kraft!

Amazing. I always add some chopped red and green peppers, chopped mushrooms, and chopped onions to the meat sauce. You have to half the water if you do this though as the veggies add juices. Will make this over and over again!

Added a box of chopped spinach and a chopped red pepper to the ricotta cheese layer

SO bland! Even added garlic, onions, oregano, basil and onion powder. Huge disappointment.

Made this for dinner last night as we had friends over and it was a hit. My husband is really picky bout the perfect lasagna and I have tried many recipes and this one is the BEST!. I used ground chicken and made an extra layer of noodles. I loved how everything blended so well. My husband has asked me to make it again and I will, next week!

I read some of the other comments before making this, so I added extra water to avoid it being dried out. I don't think I needed to do that as it was VERY moist. I also added onion and green peppers, as well as fresh garlic and several of our favourite spices, so it was very flavourful. I found this recipe a LOT easier to make than traditional lasagna as the noodles did not have to be pre-cooked. I also found the clean-up so much easier than when I've made lasagna in the oven where everything ends up baked onto the pan...my crock pot is so easy to clean. My husband loved this recipe and asked if I will now make it often.

The slow cooker is used almost daily in our household. We are a very busy family. Although I followed the receipe exactly, my family found it very tasteless and dry. I am not detered however, I will try to modify my own lasagne receipe for the slow cooker.

This is one of the best recipes you've ever given us - I'm a slow cooker fiend and have made it several times-Awesome!! Everyone asks for the recipe. Got any more like it with pasta please?????

Love this recipe sometimes I make it with ground chicken or turkey. Family loves it too.

So easy and delicious!!!

I just made this and it turned out really great except a little dry at the ends. I used an EXTRA 1/2 cup of water to the sauce and also used red peeres and onions to the sauce. I used the 4 cheese jar sauce. I also used a liner for the slow cooker. I was a little skepticle about how it would turn out, but it was so awesome! My husband loved it and so did my 4 yr old!! Will definately be naking again and again!! It's a keep! Thanks Kraft !!

Enjoyed the ricotta in it, very easy, but lacking in flavour.

Recipe was fantastic but I wouldn't use it in my slowcooker if I was home all day since the work involved in making this recipe is the same as normal lasagne and a crock pot is harder to clean than a lasagne pan.

I made this lasagna for a pot luck at work, it was the 1st thing gone. I made everything up the night before, then before I left for work I layered everything in the crock pot. When I got to work I turned it on, it smelt wonderful while cooking & tasted GREAT.

There are so many ways to lighten up this recipe, using egg whites instead of a whole egg, light cottage cheese instead of ricotta. My family loves this on a cold day. Very easy to prepare and smells wonderful while it's cooking.

Made this for the first time last week. Everyone loved it. My jar of sauce had vegetables in it and made it taste great. I had a bigger jar of sauce than suggested so would probably make a thicker layer of noodles next time. Easy to make and very tasty.

This lasagne was amazing! I have to admit i was totally sceptical that this would work but it did and it was great. It seems like there's too much meat sauce in ratio to the noodles, but DO NOT add more noodles 6 is enough. It was perfect and tasty. Will definately make this again, this is my new go-to lasagne!!

Very easy and tasted great, Don't try to make it with too many layers it is better just the way it is written, already a family favorite

Turned out perfectly!!! We've made it several times and it tastes even better as a leftover. Destined to become a family classic and I'm sure we'll experiment with it because its so easy to make.

yum so easy.....watch for the cheese burning on the pot

This is by far, the easiest and best lasagne ever. I've shared the recipe with my friends and they all agree!

I have been making what I call lazy lasagne for a long time but I use just large Dumpling noodles. Yours is quite similar and I would love to make it. What I use is the Eden low fat, no sodium pasta sauce because we have to watch both. It tastes great. I thought you r might like that bit of info. You usually find it in the organic section in the grocery store.

For my first time ever using a slow cooker, my family absolutely loved it! I was praying there would be leftovers but was happily disappointed!! We will definitely be making this again :)

Amazing!!!!! I need more recipes like this one! Was a real hit in our home!

I would probably spice it up a bit more. Maybe add spinach or peppers or something into the meat sauce. But really simple and easy! Smelled the whole house up...I was starving by supper time!

Easy.... Tasty... and the entire family loved it..

I had my slowcooker on for 5 hours. It was absolutly delicious! It just started to get burnt on a small part of one edge so I would probably cook it for only 4 hours next times. I would absolutly make this again.

this was awesome and very simple to put together

Superb. Far exceeded my expectations, and I expect to use this recipe again and again.

I tried this recipe today it was absolutely delicious i will very much make this again

I have made this a few times already. An awesome recipe! I 'hid' cauliflower in it along with spinach. I cut the water amount down due to the extra veggies and the dish turned out just fine. We made it for a huge family gathering and it was a hit along with garlic bread and a nice big caesar salad.

It was awesome and so nice to come home to after work. I put it together on my lunch hour and then I just threw together a salad to go with it before I served it. I have made a homemade lasagne for years that takes a lot longer to prepare and this was just as good. I will definitely make it again!

easy and very good

I added spinach, red pepper and celery and it was delicious. Made it for a potluck and everyone raved about it. Great idea for a rainy day.

Great recipe!! so easy to make and everyone loved it!

I used diced onion when browning meat. Substituted Cottage cheese for Ricotta. Oven ready noodles work great. Just add very little amount of water around noodles before cooking. Use more cheese!!! Leftovers tasted better the next day!

excellent recipe - so much faster than the standard recipe. I add mushrooms when browning the meat.

This recipe was excellent, i had extra cheese in it as i forgot to divide the cheese, but it made it so good. My husband as well loved this lasagna. Definitely a keeper

I've made this three times now--Made it with more noodles (10) and just a little more water (1/2 cup) and liked it better. DON'T recommend making ahead (night before)--the noodles went mushy. Throw it together and turn it on.

This was a good recipe over all but next time I will cook it for 4 hours and add more veggies. I cooked it for 5.5 hours and it turned out a bit dry.

Very easy, with lots of leftovers - I added spinich to the cheese mixature. This would be great for a potuck!

adding vegetables makes it a bit more healthier and I like boiling the noodles a little makes them easier to mold

I used express lasagne noodles and they were quite soft by the time it was cooked. I reccommend using regular noodles, save the express for the oven.

The kids love it, the husband loves it. I love that I throw it all together before I go to work and come home to dinner.

Excellent, everyone has asked for the recipe and is amazed that it was made in a slow cooker. Great time saver, I have prepared it the night before and put it in the slow cooker the next day. 5 stars from me.

Excellent and easy. Chopped up fresh chives to add to the cheese mixture as well and it was soooo good. Love it - definitely a keeper.

what a hit i will make this again soon , made it the day before i was amazed how easy this was and YUMMY!!!lynette

Ecellant Really enjoyed the simplicity of the recipe. Intend to add finely chopped Spinach next time. Robert

This was very easy to make and was super delicious! We ran out of pasta sauce and so used a splash of tomato juice and some tomatoes. I think it will taste even better with real pasta sauce!
