For added convenience, the meat can be cooked ahead of time. Chop the cooked meat, then toss it with the reserved cooking sauce as directed. Cool, then refrigerate up to 24 hours. About 1 hour before serving time, spoon meat mixture into slow cooker. Cook, covered, on LOW 1 hour or until heated through. Continue as directed.
Chili sauce is a seasoned ketchup-based sauce. Look for it in the condiments section of your supermarket. For best results, do not substitute spicy Asian chili sauce instead of the (plain) chili sauce in this recipe.
