Cooling this cake 10 minutes is not long enough. Mine did not come out of the dish cleanly, thank goodness for the icing. Could maybe try spraying the bottom of the bowl with cooking spray as well.

So good, hard to keep it to one slice!

Every time I make this snowball cake, everyone loves it and wants the recipe. A great crowd pleaser!

03/04/2013

This is always a big hit at my house at Christmas. Very easy to make and always turns out perfect.

12/22/2009

Would it be possible to put shaved white chocolate on top instead of coconut? A few of my guests don't care for coconut.

11/26/2012

awesome ,wowed everybody

10/09/2012

10/07/2012

Wasn't over impressed!!!Thought it lacked something , tasted bland...Will make it again but with a differnet cake mix,and might put 1/2 batter then cream cheese mixture then batter again...Liked the icing with coconut but might try toasted coconut next time

05/12/2012

Made this last Christmas and everybody loved it. It is very quick and really easy, the perfect cake when there is little time. My family requested this cake again this year.

12/18/2011

I made this cake for 8 ladies and they loved it. I followed the recipe exactly as written. I actually bought a glass tempered bowl (oven proofed) to make this cake as you really do need the bottom of the bowl to be narrow. When you look at the picture you have to realize that the creamcheese, during baking, sinks to the bottom of the bowl and when you turn the cake out, it is at the top. I made the cake earlier in the day and refrigerated it. I also made the topping earlier, left it in the mixing bowl& refrigerated it until I was going to serve it. I measured out some coconut and put that in a covered container since I was transporting this cake to another home. I thought it would be best to assemble it when I got to my destination later that night. It worked out beautifully.

11/25/2011

Need to make sure the cake has been refrigerated---probably overnight as the centre texture was spongey until it had properly cooled.

04/06/2011

My friend Marlene made it for my birthday 2 years ago. It was awesome! I went looking for the recipe today as I still remember how good it was!

03/05/2011

Can anyone advise if I can make and freeze the cake part for a day or two, then defrost and put the icing on it before serving? Looks great and I want to make it for a party but I don't have any time the day of event

12/22/2010

My guests LOVED it!!! I am officially the Queen of snowball chocolate cake. Our favourate, easy to make!!! 2nd year this time around & I will win once again everyone with this delicious cake!!!

12/20/2010

I served this at a Christmas potluck and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Will make it again. LC

12/05/2010

Turned out wonderfully. Everyone loved the surprise cheesecake inside. Super easy and delicious!

12/03/2010

I made this cake last night, it got stuck to the bowl a little bit, but I probably should've sprayed it a bit more. I didn't really care for the icing....I plan on trying it again with a vanilla cake, mint extract and chocolate cream cheese. Maybe switch up the icing.

11/27/2010

This recipe is awesome! Very easy to make and I would consider it a "no fail cake" forsure. I make it a few times throughout the holidays, and always have so many compliments on it. I would Definitely recommend this cake to anyone!

11/26/2010

I made this cake for one of my family dinners and again for my boyfriend's family where everyone really liked it. It's incredibly easy to make and quite tasty. Overall its a beautiful cake, where it is a very suitable for the winter months.

10/11/2010

Easy to make and tasted great!

09/18/2010

I made this cake, followed the recipe to the tee. And the end result? Was a perfect cake! It was so moist and I was expecting it to be really, really sweet, but it wasn't...Needless to say there was absolutely no leftovers and the family now asks for it!!!

04/23/2010

didn't turn out anything like the picture

03/31/2010

I have made this cake a number of times and is a hit everytime. As I am not a fan of pudding or coolwhip I use real whipcream for the icing and white chocolate flakes instead of coconut

03/18/2010

The only change I made is that I do not use the icing sugar in the topping. There isn't and need to add it as the topping is sweet enough (saves calories too!!) I have also topped with almonds. My sister in law requests this dessert whenever I have them over!!

03/12/2010

I've made this recipe twice now and will make it again. I did have to cook it 15-20 longer though. It's also good served with cherry pie filling on the side.

01/05/2010

This was a really good cake. A bit messy to make with the coconut-but otherwise was very easy.

02/21/2010

02/09/2010

don't use flat bottomed dish, use a bowl, like they say.

02/07/2010

This cake is absolutely FANTASTIC! My family and I couldn't leave it alone we went back for seconds and thirds!!!!

02/01/2010

This cake turned out to be a hit. Mine took longer to cook as well about 10 min. more. Make sure the cake is completly cooled before frosting. Everyone thought I bought this cake it was not too sweet or rich either. I used white chocolate for top also. Great cake!!

01/27/2010

I was nervous that it wouldn't come out of the bowl...but it was fine after it cooled and I loosened it from the sides. I did have to bake it a bit longer that the recipe called for. It was great. Nice, impressive, not too sweet.

01/25/2010

Mixed the batter in separate bowl and then added it to a greased bowl and it came out fine, didn't stick at all. Looks very nice on a buffet table and I made it also with white chocolate shavings but loved it with the coconut. Not a very sweet cake just fine.

01/06/2010

Very easy to make and great tasting. My guests thought I spent hours preparing, and of course thought I was very talented. I loved the festive look. I did use a white chocolate pudding mix instead of the vanilla and it was very white with the coconut on top.

01/05/2010

yummy!!! this cake was so easy to make, looks hard and tastes delicious!!! it was gobbled up in a couple of minutes

12/30/2009

"very east to make", just follow the instruction given, I just had to bake it an extra 15 mins, and it came right out with just a little sticking on the bowl but nothing I couldn't fix, will be tested on Christmas Eve @ a family gathering, so I hope they Love it....

12/23/2009

Easy to make, but mine took longer to cook as well, as others mentioned. Everyone loved it. I was a huge fan of the icing.

12/23/2009

I made this cake for my family christmas dinner it was a big hit. I covered my cake with shredded white chocolate instead of coconut. The cake was very easy to make the only issue I had was it took longer to cook. gigi

12/22/2009

Not so good. I tried to make this, but was unsuccessful. I know that my oven cooks everything much faster than the recipes (eg, if recipe says to cook 10-12 minutes, the smoke alarm will go off at about 8 minutes). So I started the timer at an hour, and checked, and it wasn't cooked completely, but my skewer came out almost clean. So I put it in another 10 minutes, and let it cool. I was able to get it out of the bowl, and it was more like a lava cake! It was not cooked. I was very happy that I had already baked some cookies that I brought to the party instead.

12/21/2009

Great cake however only one problem cake stuck at the bottom when turned over any ideas

12/20/2009

Definitely a crowd pleaser! The only trouble I had with this cake was figuring out how long to bake it for, my first attempt wasn't successful (although it still tasted really good!) because I didn't let it bake long enough. But attempt #2 turned out really well and everyone loved it!

12/18/2009

I was able to whip up this cake in a jiffy. Waiting for it to bake took a bit longer, could've been the bowl I used (not exactly like the one in the picture). I received lots of oohhs and ahhs when I placed it on the Christmas luncheon table. Everyone who tried it said they liked. I found this icing to be a lighter tasting than traditional cake frosting. I am planning on using the frosting with another cake recipe. Thanks!

12/16/2009

This cake was a big hit at my office Christmas party - it turned out great, and was super easy to make. Would defeniatly recommend - follow recipie exactly as it states, and your cake will look just like the picture!

12/15/2009

I'm planning to make this cake to bring for family Christmas dinner. I did a trial run last night to be sure it would turn out, and it was very easy and turned out just like the picture! I baked it a bit longer than the recipe said, because the toothpick wasn't coming out clean, but I should have taken it out a bit sooner, as the cake was a bit drier than it should have been. But other than that (my own fault)....great cake!

12/14/2009

There seemed to be way too much cream cheese mixture inside the cake, and the flavour didnt mesh well with the rest of the cake. Also, the icing was too runny, and didn't seem to want to stay on. Overall, this cake was too rich, and we didn't like it.

12/10/2009

I followed the recipe exactly for this cake but I ended up with a tunnel down the center where the cream cheese was placed. I could have acutally put filling it. Any suggestions as to what I did wrong. Great cake though.

12/09/2009

This was actually a very light chocolate flavour, you can easily eat two slices! I went a little lighter on the icing, as I used a smaller pan for the cake and also got about eight cupcakes iced as well :)

12/07/2009

I've made this wonderful cake three times already and everyone loves it, especially my husbands coworkers! They recognize it right away from the magazine. I am planning on making it for another event this weekend....thanks for the great ideas!!!

12/07/2009

It took much longer to cook, was beautiful and easy to get out of the bowl. Now that I opened the fridge, omg, the icing is slipping all the way down, what a mess. I've followed the recipe, I don't know why it didn't sit properly. Any comments out there We haven't tasted yet, I don't know if I should just scrape all icing now?

12/06/2009

Wonderful cake. Very easy to make and everyone at card night loved it. I will make again. I used while chocolate instead of the coconut.

12/02/2009

made this for my daughter-in-law's birthday cake and it was a big hit. Used a pyrex glass bowl and scraped around the edges as instructed and it fell right out. We aren't coconut fans so used chopped skor bars on the outside. Very good.

11/26/2009

I had a terrible time with this recipe. Although easy to put together, the baking aspect was a mess. I'm assuming metal is not a good idea for the bowl? It took nearly 45 minutes extra to cook, as well as sticking to the bowl and falling apart when I tried to remove it. I managed to piece it together and cover it with the icing. Edible; it just wasn't the presentation I had expected!

11/26/2009

Well, I made this cake and it was a huge hit. I decided to change it a bit for the second go around. I used a marble cake mix, chocolate cream cheese instead of the regular, chocolate pudding instead of vanilla and white chocolate shavings instead of coconut. It too was a great hit. I love this recipe because it was so easy and you can really make it your own.

11/23/2009

Hi i was wondering if i bake this in a 3 litre ovenproof bowl would it make a difference? I would love to make it for the girls night. Looks wonderful and the presentation is beautiful. Thanks Me

11/20/2009

Fabulous cake, absolutely delicious, and it presents itself well. Make sure you do get instant pudding, otherwise icing will not solidify. Loved it, my family loved it and my guests couldn't stop talking about it. Definately recommend it if you're looking to impress

11/20/2009

I followed the directions exactly and it stuck when turned out. The taste of the cream cheese was underwhelming though the whole cake improved with a night in the fridge. I don't think the cream cheese adds enough to make up for the bother. The frosting was great.

11/20/2009

This cake was a big hit at a baby shower! I made it with white chocolate instead of coconut and it was fantastic. Make sure you follow the directions regarding scraping bowl as it makes it easier to remove when cool. Definitely a keeper.

11/19/2009

I made this cake for some friends and they all thought it was fantastic, it looked just like the picture. Will be making this again. I didn't have enought cool whip so I used a cup of whipped cream, it was great.

11/17/2009

To everyone concerned re:the cream chese. You have to make this cake exactly as stated. It will look just like the picture. I promise. However I did find that the cream cheese tasted a lot better the next day.My son, daughter-in-law,grandaughter and husband all said that the recipe was a "keeper" Thanks Kraft.

11/16/2009

It was alright. Looked amazing. I toasted the coconut to add some colour.

11/15/2009

You could lower the fat/calorie content by using just egg whites in the cake, and use apple sauce instead of oil. Use a light or fat free cream cheese, use fat free pudding and 1% milk. You can also buy 95% fat free cool whip. All the little things add up... Good Luck

11/14/2009

Huge hit with the family! Getting requests to make it again.

11/14/2009

Cake and icing was good however the cream cheese filling didn't go that well....didn't like the taste. Won't make again

11/12/2009

I made this cake for my cousins birthday and it was a hit! It was fairly easy to make and had just the right amount of sweetness. Everyone was curious as to how I got the cream cheese in the middle of the cake. I will definelty be making this for Christmas!

11/12/2009

Wonderfull easy cake to make. My guests enjoyed it as it wasn't really sweet!

11/12/2009

A bit of a let down. My sone requested I make this cake as it looked quite good. The cream cheese/pudding mixture in the middle is quite dry and tasteless. Will not make again.

11/12/2009

Easy and delicious. My family aren't big fans of coconut so I put shaved chocolate on top

11/12/2009

11/10/2009

I also mixed the cake mix in a separate bowl, then lined a stainless steel bowl with foil as I was worried it would stick. Using the foil was a great idea.

11/09/2009

The cake tasted great and was relatively easy to make, but eventhough I loosened the edges with a knife before removing it from the bowl, the bottom still stuck. I was able to do some camouflage with the icing. Any suggestions? I plan on making this for a Christmas party and would like the next one to turn out perfectly.

11/09/2009

This was a great cake however I did leave out the icing sugar (by accident) and it still tasted fantastic!! It was a nice, semi-sweet dessert. I think I would leave out the cream cheese next time as I found it didn't add to the cake.

11/09/2009

Suggestion, buy a measuring cup that you can bake in. I have one from Pampered Chef. Bake the cake in it. The cheese that you see at the top of the cake is really the bottom. Hope this help. You can use this cup to make aa barbie cake, just add the body of the doll on the cake.

11/05/2009

This cake is awesome. Will definitely make again. Planning on making this cake over the holiday season.

11/05/2009

Any suggestions for lowering the fat/calorie levels?

11/05/2009

I can not rate this recipe yet, but it looks great. My only problem might be is getting it out of the bowl neatly. Any suggestions?

11/04/2009

Looks like a wonderful recipe and will give it a try for the next family gathering. It would have been nice to have the recipe for the cake, however, and not a cake mix. Maybe next time, eh Kraft?

11/04/2009

adamrami2005 - you apparently haven't made a cake with a "center" before. The cream cheese center will SINK during the baking process! This is what causes the chocolate cake to be surrounding it. There's NOTHING wrong with this recipe and it doesn't need fixing. This is a beautiful, moist, show stopping cake that is also EASY! When does that happen? Only with Kraft recipes, in my experience. Thanks Kraft!

11/04/2009

Cake looks fantastic! However, for a bit of a change, try cupcakes!!! Always a huge hit - especially around the holidays. I use chocolate icing for the tops, and they have never failed to please. I can't wait to make them again.

11/04/2009

I don't understand why people are asking for the ingredients - they are listed - "prepare cake according to directions on the box". I haven't made it yet, but I can't wait to try it! I'm not a whipped cream fan, but with the icing sugar, it'll be fantastic. I already give it a 5 star!

11/04/2009

I don't know which is wrong in this recipe: the picture or the preparation. The picture shows the cream cheese or the vanilla pudding filling in the middle and the chocolate covering it from both sides. When I read the preparation however, I don't find any indication about how to make it look like the picture. I think this recipe needs some fixing. Thanks.

11/04/2009

Looking forward to trying. A: Cream cheese mixture will sink while cooking. Thanks again Kraft. :)

11/03/2009

delicious

11/03/2009

anyone who has made this cake bfore plz give some hints...i don't understand how does the chocolate cake cover the top of the creamcheese,if it doesn't require u to top the creamecheese with some batter?
