My husband and I love this soup; I don't care for black beans and substitute 3 - 14 oz cans of pinto beans. On a cold winter night this is real comfort food. I serve it with crusty buns for a perfect easy meal.
I always use ground turkey and LOVE it. I do add a little more water though so it's not quite so chili like.
I have done a vegetarian version w/o the hamburger. I have also added carrots and black olives. It's a great recipe when you are trying to lose weight. It makes an excellent low calorie meal.
