If you don't have a pastry bag and decorating tip, you can instead use a large resealable plastic bag to decorate the frosted cupcakes. Spoon icing into bag, then cut small piece off one bottom corner of bag. Use to pipe icing onto cupcakes as directed.
Keep frosted cupcakes refrigerated up to 24 hours before serving.
Make sure the cupcakes are completely cooled before frosting. A warm cupcake will cause the frosting to soften or melt.
