  • Heat oil in large saucepan on medium heat. Add onions, carrots and celery; cook 2 to 3 min. or until vegetables begin to soften, stirring occasionally and adding garlic for the last minute.
  • Stir in flour; cook 1 min., stirring constantly. Add broth, pasta sauce, tomatoes, tomato paste and sugar; mix well. Cook, partially covered, on medium-low heat 10 min. or until vegetables are softened, stirring occasionally. Cool slightly.
  • Blend 3 cups vegetable mixture in blender until smooth; return to saucepan along with the cream. Cook 3 to 5 min. or until heated through, stirring frequently.

Special Extra

Serve topped with croutons.


Substitute 25%-less-sodium vegetable broth for the chicken broth.
